So, last night, UCLA was embarrassed by Michigan State. As a result of that game, UCLA will play the North Carolina Tar Heels, who also lost their game yesterday. The Bruins and the Tar Heels will tip-off this afternoon at 1 pm PT on Fox.
North Carolina Tar Heels
The Tar Heels were edged last night by the Longhorns, 92-89, for their first loss of the season.
Despite the loss, the Tar Heels are still a good basketball team. They were ranked 6th in this week’s Top 25 Coaches Poll and 7th in this week’s AP Poll.
The Tar Heels are led by Cameron Johnson. Johnson is a 6’9” tall guard who came to UNC as a graduate transfer from Pitt. Johnson is averaging almost 17 points and 5.7 board per game.
True freshman Coby White is the Tar Heels’ second guard and is second in scoring so far this season with an average of 15.2 points per game. UNC’s third starting guard is senior Kenny Williams. Look for Williams to play the point for North Carolina. He has 27 assists so far this season for the Tar Heels.
Down low, Roy Williams starts forward Luke Maye and Garrison Brooks. Maye and Brooks are the Tar Heels’ top two rebounders, averaging 8.7 and 6.3 rebounds per game, respectively.
Unfortunately, today’s game looks like another case of the Bruins playing an opponent whose coach will run circles around Steve Alford. But, hey! It’s alright. Another loss will be “good for us.”
