The $100,000 recruit Deandre Ayton couldn’t will his way to an Arizona win last night in Eugene and, as a result, UCLA can still win the regular season Pac-12 title. But, that’s going to require a win today over Colorado, a win next Saturday over Southern Cal and two losses by the Wildcats. But, hey, it’s possible.
And, it starts this afternoon at the Coors Events Center in Boulder when the Bruins look to avenge their loss to the Buffs last month at home.
Is it realistic? Well, given the events of the past few days, I guess anything is possible. After all, the Wildcats were coached by Lorenzo Romar, who was fired by Washington last season for his horrendous coaching of a team that had the NBA’s #1 draft pick. If Romar stays in charge, it’s very possible, even with Deandre Ayton still playing.
But, it all starts with a must-win game today. UCLA has their tournament hopes pinned to this game as well. So, if this team can’t get up for today’s game. They don’t deserve to go anywhere, not even the NIT.
