In the event that you’ve been living under a rock all week, the Steve Alford era at UCLA is over. Alford coached his last game last Saturday when the Bruins lost to the Liberty Flames.
Now, Murry Bartow gets to pick up the pieces while trying to win the Pac-12 Conference as the conference play portion of the schedule begins.
Will UCLA basketball become watchable again knowing that Alford is gone? Will attendance improve? At this point, there are more questions than answers but, with Alford gone, it would seem that UCLA fans can begin supporting the program again while the search committee of Josh Rebholz, Chris Carlson and Bob Myers goes about its business.
On Saturday night, in my article discussing Steve Alford’s postgame press conference, I posted a poll asking if he would be coaching tonight’s game. Amazingly, 58% of our readers thought he would and only 42% thought he would be fired.
So, that has me curious to know what everyone thinks about the rest of the season.

I’m glad Alford’s gone. I can finally watch Bruin basketball again!

21%
Good riddance, but I would have watched them all anyway.

23%
I’ll probably watch the same amount because it’s about supporting the players, not the coach.

Firing him now indicates the towel has been thrown in on this season. See you next season!

I’m waiting to see who UCLA hires to fix the program.
