At this point in the season, every game is important. If UCLA can beat Oregon tonight, the Bruins will at least be tied for fifth place in the conference heading into next week’s game against Southern Cal. If Utah should lose to Washington State and UCLA wins tonight, then the Bruins will be tied for fourth place.
Meanwhile, a loss at this point would drop them into the bottom half of the conference and probably mean that UCLA will have to play in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.
Hopefully, UCLA can build on Thursday night’s win over Oregon State and make a late run for that fourth first round bye. In order to do that, the Bruins pretty much need to win their remaining conference games.
Sure, it’s doubtful given how badly this team has played most of the season, but, with Alford gone and Bartow obviously not the long-term solution, there’s no reason to not to be pulling for these kids.
