#19 UCLA Men’s Soccer Squares Off Against #13 SDSU

The Bruins head to San Diego for a Pac-12 Conference game against the Aztecs.

@UCLAMSoccer

The UCLA Men’s Soccer team heads to San Diego to face San Diego State in a Pac-12 Conference match tonight at 7pm. The Aztecs are members of the Pac-12 for men’s soccer.

Last Sunday, the Bruins won their conference game against Oregon State by a score of 2-0. Jose Fernandez gave the Bruins the lead in the 56th and Felix Vobejda added an insurance goal just two minutes later.

But, the victory wasn’t enough to keep UCLA from dropping like a rock in the polls due to their 4-0 loss to Washington. The Bruins are now ranked 19th.

Meanwhile, San Diego State is still undefeated in conference play after they defeated Washington last Sunday and tied Oregon State a few days earlier. That allowed the team to move up in the polls to 13th.

The strength of the Aztec team is their defense. SDSU has one of the top goalkeepers in the country in redshirt junior Adam Allmaras. Allmaras is ranked third in the country in save percentage with a 0.911 while the Aztecs are second in the nation in shutout percentage (0.70) and goals against average (0.37).
