It seems like it’s been forever since there was any news about the UCLA Men’s Water Polo team. Well, that might be because there was so much news about the team breaking the NCAA record for consecutive wins and the fact that it’s been nine days since they were last in the pool against UC Santa Barbara.
The Bruins beat the Gauchos 10-7 to increase the winning streak to 53 games last Thursday.
As a result, UCLA heads to Berkeley this afternoon to face the #2 team in the country. That may inspire the Golden Bears to fight a little harder this afternoon to snap UCLA’s win streak, since a win over the Bruins could earn the Bears the #1 spot in next week’s poll.
These teams met last month in the MPSF Invitational and the Bruins held on to win a close one, 10-7. So, the Bears will be looking for payback in addition to the chance to take over the #1 spot.
In general, it should be a well-played game by these teams as they both open their MPSF schedule and it could prove to be a nice distraction following today’s football game.
