#1 UCLA Men’s Water Polo Closes Out the Regular Season Against #2 Southern Cal

It’s #1 vs. #2 when UCLA travels across town take on Southern Cal.

Joe Piechowski

There’s something right about playing Southern Cal as the last regular season game. That probably extends from the fact that it’s how it has traditionally been the case in football.

Well, at least this year, it also extends to the Men’s Water Polo regular season as the teams meet for the first time since UCLA defeated the Trojans last season for the National Championship.

Last season, the Bruins didn’t face Southern Cal until the last regular season game either. But, the teams met three times in the final six games, stretching from the regular season finale to the MPSF Championships to the National Championship game. Of course, the Bruins didn’t disappoint and finished the season undefeated.

The Bruins find themselves in a similar situation this season. They are undefeated going into today’s game against Southern Cal as the regular season concludes and will soon defend their MPSF and National titles.

Of course, it’s fitting that Southern Cal is the #2 team in the country.

After sweeping last weekend’s doubleheader, the Bruins’ winning streak sits at 57 games. Today, they look to make it 58 in a row.
