After Thursday’s loss to LSU, the UCLA Softball team now has a much tougher road to 114. This morning at 9am PT, they will face Texas A&M in an elimination game where the loser goes home. Should UCLA win that game, the Bruins would then face the University of Washington this afternoon at 4pm in another elimination game with the winner of that game needing two beat #1 seed Florida twice tomorrow to advance.
While #6 seed Washington won their first game on Thursday against #3 seed Oregon, 3-1, they lost to #10 seed Oklahoma yesterday to drop into the Elimination Bracket to face the winner of UCLA and Texas A&M this afternoon.
Meanwhile, in other WCWS action yesterday, Florida continued their torrid pace to the Finals when they shutout LSU 7-0.
In today’s other action, Oregon will face Baylor in Game 8, which, like UCLA’s game, is an elimination game. The winner of that game will play LSU in Game 10 at approximately 6:30 pm PT.
Today, UCLA just needs to focus on scoring as many runs as possible in each game. And, while it seems clear the Kelly Inouye-Perez will inevitably as one of her best hitters to bunt at some point today, the Bruins just need to see the ball well and put on the kind of offensive performance they did during the first weekend of play and let their pitching handle the rest.
Go Bruins!
