UCLA Softball: Bruins Use 4-Run Sixth To Top Sun Devils, 5-1

After losing to Arizona State on Thursday night, the Bruins got back to their winning ways last night by beating the Sun Devils, 5-1.

Rachel Garcia threw another complete game for the Bruins last night and earned her 20th win of the season. She allowed just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out eight.

The Bruins got their bats going early last night when Briana Perez hit a solo home run to center in the bottom of the first.

Arizona State tied it up when designated player DeNae Chatman homered off Garcia in the top of the fifth.

The Bruins won the game with a big four-run sixth inning. Briana Perez started the rally with a single through the right side, which set up Aaliyah Jordan for a two-run blast to left that put UCLA up 3-1. The Bruins would add two more insurance runs in the inning on an RBI double by Madeline Jelenicki and an RBI single by Taylor Pack.

Because Oregon also won, UCLA remains a game behind the Ducks in the Pac-12 standings. The Bruins need UC Berkeley to win today along with a win over the Sun Devils in order to tie the Ducks for first in the Pac-12 conference standings.

This is your UCLA Bruins vs. Arizona State Sun Devils softball game 3 open thread.

Go Bruins!!!
