Holly Azevedo threw a five-hit, complete game shutout as the Bruins defeated UC Berkeley, 5-0 and she earned her 15th win of the season for her efforts.
Offensively, UCLA wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard as Bubba Nickles hit a two-run single in the top of the first which drove in both Kylee and Briana Perez to give UCLA a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth, the Bruins added a few insurance runs. Briana Perez hit an RBI single up the middle to score Kinsley Washington while Aaliyah Jordan did the same right after Perez to score Kylee Perez. Rachel Garcia followed with a sacrifice fly to left which scored Briana Perez and, just like that, the Bruins were up 5-0.
That’s the way it staye, thanks to Azevedo’s pitching, and the Bruins won their 12th straight to move to 46-3 overall and 16-3 in the Pac-12. Despite that, the Bruins remain tied for first in the Pac-12 with Oregon.
Today, the Bruins will face the Golden Bears at 1:30 pm PT in a game which will air on Pac-12 Networks National, Los Angeles and Bay Area.
