Tonight, the Bruins will look to get back on track after losing just their second game of the year and first in Pac-12 play when they meet the Ducks again at 7 pm PT.
Last TIme Out
Last night, UCLA dropped the series opener 4-3.
The Bruins got on the scoreboard first in the fourth inning. Taylor Pack led off with a double and moved over to third on a wild pitch. Colleen Sullivan then walked and ended up on second after another wild pitch. With two-out and two runners in scoring position, Kelly Inouye-Perez sent Malia Quarles to pinch-hit for Kinsley Washington.
Quarles hit a sacrifice fly to right, which scored Pack, but, after tagging up, Sullivan got thrown out at third to end the inning.
After Kelli Godin was hit by a pitch and Briana Perez laid down a bunt single, Bubba Nickles singled to right, scoring Godin and it was 2-0, UCLA.
But the Ducks got to Bruin starter Megan Faraimo in the sixth. She gave up a single, a double and a homer as Oregon took a 3-2 lead. Then, in the seventh, Faraimo surrendered a homer to start the inning and that’s when Inouye-Perez chose to bring in Holly Azevedo to finish the inning. In the bottom half of the inning, Nickles hit a two-out solo home run to make it 4-3, but that’s all UCLA could do and they lost their second game of the year.
All told, Faraimo pitched 6 innings and gave up four runs on six hits with eight strikeouts. The loss moves her to 12-2 on the season.
Tonight, the teams meet again at 7 pm PT at Easton Stadium and the game will be carried on Pax-12 Networks National, Los Angeles, and Oregon.
This is your UCLA Bruins vs. Oregon Ducks game two open thread.
