The UCLA softball team lost last night loss to Stanford, 2-1, snapping the Bruins eight-game winning streak. UCLA had their chances to win last night, but had trouble scoring runs and left seven runners stranded on base.
Freshman Megan Faraimo pitched just the first four innings, allowing a two-run homer in the second, which proved to be the game-winning hit. Holly Acevedo came in to pitch the fifth inning and Rachel Garcia was called on to end a potential sixth inning rally with runners on first and second and just one out.
UCLA didn’t get on the board until the top of the third when Bubba Nickles was able to get on base with a single to right field. A Briana Perez sacrifice bunt moved Nickles up to second. Garcia was up next and brought Nickles home with a single. But that was the only run UCLA could muster last night and the final score was 2-1, Cardinal.
The Bruins will have a second chance against Stanford today at 1:00 pm PT and the game will be televised on Pac-12 Network Los Angeles.
