UCLA Track & Field: Alyssa Wilson and Mikella Lefebvre-Oatis Medal at Pan Am Junior Championships

Wilson and Lefebvre-Oatis bring home the gold and bronze, respectively.

Incoming freshman Alyssa Wilson and sophomore Mikella Lefebvre-Oatis each won a medal at the Pan American Junior Championships in Peru.

The Pan American Junior games are held every two years where any athlete under the age of 20 is able to compete. This year they were held in the South American country of Peru. The games give young athletes a chance to showcase their talent.

Lefebvre-Oatis is a Bruin sophomore who was representing her home country of Canada in the Pan Am games. She participated in the high jump and won a bronze medal with a jump of 1.82m which in feet comes out to 5’ 11.5”.

Incoming freshman Alyssa Wilson participated in the shot put in this year’s games as part of Team USA. Wilson won gold in the event and, in doing so, broke her own national high school record by nearly a foot. She threw for 58’ 1”. She broke her record on her third and final throw.
