Women’s Basketball

The UCLA Men’s Basketball isn’t the only Bruin team going to Australia.

The UCLA Women’s Basketball team is also travelling down under. The team will play four games during their trip.

UCLA will play the Southern Districts Lady Spartans at Rowland Cowan Stadium in Carina, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia at 8:00 pm PT Saturday, August, 20th. The Bruins’ next game will be against the Cairns Dolphins at the Cairns Basketball Stadium in Cairns, Queensland, Australia at 2:00 am PT on Tuesday, August 23rd. The team will face the Sydney Uni Flames of the WNBL at Brydens Stadium in Darlington, New South Wales, Australia at 2:00 am PT on Friday, August 26th. The fourth and final game for the Women’s Basketball team will be against the Sydney Comets at the Alexandria Basketball Stadium in Alexandria, New South Wales, Australia at 3:00 am PT Saturday, August 27th.

Meanwhile, there’s an article discussing how the team is practicing their Australian accents on NCAA.com. It mentions a tweet from the Women’s Basketball twitter account that shows the team working on the accents.

Men’s and Women’s Basketball

In other basketball news, Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times has written an article about both of UCLA basketball’s point guards — Lonzo Ball and Jordin Canada. He writes about how both student-athletes hail from Southern California while discussing that no other college in the country will be able to claim to have both men’s and women’s point guards like these two.

Sondheimer writes, "It's going to be so much fun for Los Angeles area basketball fans and those around the country to watch them develop."

Yes, it is going to indeed be fun watching both of them.

Men’s Golf

The UCLA Men’s Golf team has a transfer from Chico State named Matt Hutchins joining the team this year. On Thursday, Hutchins won his second major Maine State Golf Association title of the summer. He won the Maine Match Play Championship at Brunswick Golf Club.

In July, Hutchins won the Maine Amateur Championship at York G&TC. As a freshman at Chico State last year, Hutchins recorded a 74.0 scoring average.

Go Bruins!!!
