Soon-to-be-seniors Monique Billings and Jordin Canada will travel to Colorado to train with the USA Women’s Basketball U23’s.
Canada and Billings were both invited to participate in a five-day training camp with Team USA U23’s from July 31 – August 4. Their names are just two on a list of 40 players. Soon after camp wraps up, all 40 invitees will find out if they made the cut for a roster of 12 that will head out to Tokyo, Japan to represent USA in an inaugural U23 Four Nations Tournament. Japan, Australia, and Canada are the other three teams to participate in the tournament as well.
This Four Nations Tournament is for college-aged women who are currently freshmen, sophomores, or juniors in college and 23 and under. Billings and Canada have yet to start their last year at UCLA and are thus eligible for the tournament. But making the final cut will not be an easy one. 40 players come in and only 12 will make the list. Less than half of the athletes who were invited will make the list. Included in the vast player pool will be 22 international gold medalists.
Go Bruins!
