Today’s women’s basketball recap should probably be sponsored by In-N-Out Burger. That’s because the Bruin women’s basketball team had not one but two players with a double-double today.

Monique Billings had 15 points and 15 rebounds in today’s game against the Washington State Cougars while teammate Lajahna Drummer picked up 10 points and 14 boards. Of course, Jordin Canada was Jordin Canada. She led the Bruins with 19 points and teammate Kennedy Burke was also in double figures with 16 points.

It wasn’t looking like the Bruins would complete the weekend road sweep in the first quarter. While UCLA led by as many as five with 6:41 to go, Washington State finished the quarter on a 14-2 run to lead 20-13.

The Cougars started the second quarter the same way as the first and stretched the run to 17-2 with a three-pointer by Pinelopi Pavlopoulou that gave WSU a ten-point edge. It took the Bruins nearly seven minutes to tie up the Cougars and nine minutes before they retook the lead, but UCLA had a 4-point lead at the break 38-34.

After the half, the Cougars came out and scored four points in the first minute to tie the game back up, but Kennedy Burke’s free throw that put UCLA up by one with 8:44 to go in the third quarter put the Bruins up for good. The rest of the game was all Bruins as UCLA stretched the lead to as many as eleven in the third quarter and as many as twelve in the fourth. Once the Bruins took that double-digit lead, they never let the Cougars get closer than five and UCLA finished the weekend sweep on the road.

Go Bruins!
