After losing to the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament, Jordan Canada, Kennedy Burke and the rest of the Bruins had to wait a week to find out where they would be seeded in the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
That wait is now over as the teams were announced this afternoon on ESPN.
The Bruins will play American University at Pauley Pavilion in the first round of the Kansas City Region. The Bruins will also host the second round at Pauley and, as long as UCLA wins their first game, they will play the winner of 6-seed Iowa vs. 11-seed Creighton.
Assuming the Bruins win both games, they will advance to the Regional where they could end up playing the 2-seed Texas Longhorns.
Overall, it’s a good draw for UCLA, despite the distance they may have to travel because UConn, Oregon, Oregon State and Stanford are not in the region. Considering that six of the Bruins’ seven losses so far this season have come against these four team, not having to face any of these team until the Final Four is a definite advantage.
Of course, that’s balanced out by the fact that UCLA is in the same region as last year’s runner-ups the Mississippi State Bulldogs are in the Kansas City Region
Go Bruins!!!
