It’s time for Round Three.
Tonight, the UCLA Women’s Basketball team will face the Oregon Ducks for the third time this season. So far, the Ducks have won the first two meetings.
Is the third time the charm for the Bruins?
At the beginning of January, UCLA hosted the Ducks at Pauley Pavilion and Oregon became just the third team to beat the Bruins in Pauley Pavilion since 2015-16.
So, when UCLA travelled to Eugene to play the Ducks twelve days ago, the Bruins wanted revenge. And, they nearly got it.
The Bruins were down by as many as 19 points with 7:26 left in the third quarter. UCLA mounted a big comeback to take a 90-87 lead with 2:18 to go in the game. But the Bruins couldn’t score again in regulation. They missed 3 three-point attempts as well as a layup as time expired. So, the game went into overtime.
But the Bruins’ cold spell continued into OT where UCLA could only muster one basket and two free throws. Meanwhile, the Ducks scored 11 points in OT to win the game.
So, now, the season-long battle between these teams will be settled tonight on a neutral court with the winner heading to the Pac-12 Championship game tomorrow evening.
Can the Bruins dig deep and come away with a win?
They need to if they expect to go deep into the NCAA Tournament.
This is your UCLA Bruins vs. Oregon Ducks women’s basketball open thread.
Go Bruins!!!
