The UCLA women’s basketball team hosts a rare Thursday matinee this morning when the Bruins play the Long Beach State 49ers at 11 am PT at Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins are looking to remain undefeated after they beat Loyola Marymount on Sunday, 74-52.

Last Time Out

On Sunday, the Bruins avenged last season’s season-opening loss by defeating the Loyola Marymount Lions, 74-52. This game was essentially over after the first half when the Bruins had a 48-22 halftime lead. UCLA’s 32-point second quarter pretty much sealed the deal and UCLA only needed a free throw and two buckets in the third quarter to win this one.

It was an 8-0 run to start the game that set the tone for the entire game as the Bruins never trailed in the entire game.

Three Bruins finished in double figures. Lindsey Corsaro led all scorers with 18 points while Natalie Chou had 15 and Lauryn Miller added 14. Miller also grabbed 11 rebounds to finish the game with a double-double. Corsaro led the team with six assists.

Long Beach State 49ers

The Long Beach State 49ers have started the season 1-1 and don’t look to be much of a threat to the Bruins’ perfect record. That’s because, so far, the 49ers have beaten Westcliff but lost to Cal Baptist to start the season.

That said, the 49ers did almost score 100 points against Westcliff, which is an NAIA school. Shanaijah Davison led the team with 21 points against the Warriors while Jasmine Hardy scored 16. Three other 49ers finished in double figures. So, they can score, but I just don’t expect them to score often against the #11 Bruins.

Look for another easy Bruin win today.
