This afternoon, the UCLA women’s basketball team returns to action when the Bruins host the Loyola Marymount Lions at 3 pm PT at Pauley Pavilion. UCLA will be looking for payback after LMU beat the Bruins, 69-63, to start last season.
Last Time Out
On Tuesday, the Bruins opened the season with an easy win over the Weber State Wildcats. In fact, Natalie Chou sealed the deal for UCLA when she scored the very first basket of the second half for the Bruins.
Charisma Osbourne led UCLA with 17 points. Three other Bruins finished in double figures in points. Michaela Onyenwere had 16 while Lindsey Corsaro put up 14 and Kiara Jefferson added 12. Kayla Owens led the team with 13 rebounds.
Loyola Marymount Lions
Today’s game is the season opener for the Lions. Loyola Marymount finished the 2018-19 season with a 18-15 record.
They didn’t make the NCAA Tournament last season. They did make the Women’s NIT, but lost in the first round to Idaho, 79-64.
The Lions did play an exhibition game last Saturday against Point Loma. While LMU won, they only won 59-50. So, it may seem that this year’s Lions are not as good as last season.
I’m going to predict a Bruin win today even though I’m not sure how much of a win and don’t want to say it will be a big win because of Tuesday’s win over Weber State because that would be my tendency.
This is your UCLA women’s basketball open thread.
Go Bruins!!!
