2019 NCAA Women’s Sweet 16: UCLA Bruins vs. UConn Huskies Game Thread

The Bruins should be familiar with tonight’s opponent since UCLA has played UConn in each of the past two seasons.

While a lot of basketball fans will be tuning in to the men’s Sweet 16 tonight, the UCLA women’s basketball team will be facing off against the UConn Huskies in the 2019 NCAA Women’s Sweet 16 at 4 pm PT.

The last time the Bruins met the Huskies was last season at Pauley Pavilion when the Huskies won 78-60. The teams also met in the Sweet 16 two years ago which UConn also won, 86-71. In fact, the Huskies have won all five games they’ve played against the Bruins.

So, a win tonight by UCLA would be historic in that they’ve never beaten UConn. It would also send the Bruins to the Elite Eight for the second season in a row.

This year, the Huskies only earned a #2 seed, despite the fact that they only lost two games during the regular season. Those two losses came on the road against Baylor and Louisville and both of those teams earned a #1 seed in this year’s tournament. In fact, the winner of the UCLA-UConn game will play the winner of Louisville’s game against Oregon State in the Elite Eight on Sunday.

Can the Bruins finally beat the Huskies and advance to a second straight Elite Eight for the first time? We’ll all know in a few hours.

This is your UCLA vs UConn Sweet 16 game thread.

Go Bruins!!!
