This morning, the #25 UCLA women’s basketball team will play in the first Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinal game against the #20 Arizona State Sun Devils at 11:30 am PT.

Last Time Out

On Sunday, the Bruins played their regular season finale against Colorado and UCLA cruised to an 84-50 win over the Buffaloes. The Bruins never trailed in the game and they lead for all but a two minute and four second portion of the first quarter when the game was tied 2-2.

Michaela Onyenwere led UCLA with 18 points while Kennedy Burke had 15. Lajahna Drummer led the team with 9 rebounds and, combined with her 9 points, she just missed a double-double. Japreece Dean also just missed a double-double with 9 assists and 8 points.

Arizona State Sun Devils

While the #20 Sun Devils are ranked higher than the #25 Bruins, UCLA is seeded higher as a result of the Bruins’ 61-59 win over Arizona State in Tempe.

Last night, the Sun Devils cruised past the Colorado Buffaloes in the first round of the Pac-12 Women’s Tournament, 66-49.

Outlook

The Bruins have been the better team down the stretch. Since these teams met at the end of January, UCLA has gone 9-2 while the Sun Devils have gone 7-3 including last night’s win over Colorado.

Ultimately, this game may be the closest game of today’s four quarterfinals, but I think the Bruins will win by a little bit more than they did in Tempe.
