The UCLA gymnastics team will take on the Stanford Cardinal this weekend, led by captains Nicolette McNair and Elizabeth Price. Price is the current Pac 12 Specialist of the Week (for the second time) and also the reigning Pac 12 Gymnast of the Year. Stanford is currently on a two meet win streak, beating both Arizona and #18 Washington at home. Stanford has consistently increased their scores in every meet this year.
Last weekend against the Huskies, all six Stanford gymnasts hit their floor routines to hold off Washington and prevent their comeback win. Nicolette and Danielle McNair both earned 9.900s on bars to tie for second in the event, and Rachel Daum tied her season best of 9.850 on floor to lead the Cardinal and tie for second in the event. Aleeza Yu competed on vault for the second consecutive week and finished third – her second top-three finish in the event.
Stanford has six returners that competed on last year’s NCAA Championships. Price continues to roll on, as she has won at least two events in each of the three meets where she competed, and with Nicolette McNair scoring 9.800 or higher in 31 of her 37 2016 routines, the pair is sure to have a strong showing this weekend.
