Tonight, the #10 UCLA Women’s Soccer team will host #14 UC Berkeley at Drake Stadium, but as orlandobruin wrote this morning, the team will be without Darian Jenkins, one of their two leading scorers, due to a broken fibula.
Jenkins’ injury couldn’t come at a worse time for the Bruins as they face #14 UC Berkeley tonight and #1 Stanford on Sunday. Other Bruins will need to make up Jenkins’ production if the Bruins are to continue undefeated in the conference.
Meanwhile, UC Berkeley has won 5 straight games. The Golden Bears are led by Arielle Ship, last year’s Pac-12 Player of the Year.
But, tonight looks to be a defensive battle as the Golden Bears have the stingiest goalkeeper in the conference in Emily Boyd while the Bruins have the second stingiest in Teagan Micah.
Don’t be surprised if this one ends 1-0 or if it heads to overtime tied at zero.
