UCLA Women’s Soccer Faces Rival Southern Cal

UCLA looks to end their regular season with a win against rival Southern Cal.

@UCLAWSoccer

One game is all there is left in the regular season for the UCLA Bruins. One game left that won’t give them a chance at the conference title, but that can leave them with a fourth place finish and confidence going into the post-season. It just so happens their last game is against Southern Cal.

The last two games have not been easy for the Bruins. They lost 1-0 to Colorado and 2-0 to Utah. With those scores, it has been the first time of the season they have been left off the scoreboard. Shutting out the Pac-12 leaders in offense is a great feat for both Colorado and Utah.

The last time the two met the Trojans defeated the Bruins 2-0. Revenge for the prior two years when the Bruins defeated them 2-0 in 2014 in front of a record NCAA crowd of 10,128 and 4-1 in 2013.

With one game left, UCLA needs to come together now more than ever. They have a powerhouse offense, a midfield more than capable of scoring, and a goalkeeper that has kept the team in the game on more than one occasion. Their problems lie with their defense. This backline is not the same from the 2013 championship team and no one is asking them to be, but something has got to give. Inconsistency has been a problem for them and this game is not the game for that. A win could give the Bruins a much-needed boost heading into the postseason and the most important part of it all, bragging rights for a whole year.
