After traveling to Westchester for Thursday night’s game against Loyola Marymount, the UCLA women’s soccer team travels further south for tonight’s game against the San Diego State Aztecs.
Last Time Out
Jessie Fleming was back in a big way Thursday night against the Loyola Marymount Lions. Playing in her first game since leaving the Penn State game on August 25th due to an injury, Fleming scored the first goal of the game for the Bruins in the 39th minute on a dummy following an Anika Rodriguez corner kick.
Then, in the 55th minute, Chloe Castenada headed in a pass from Hallie Mace to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead. The final UCLA goal came in the 59th minute when Mace passed the ball to Kennedy Faulknor inside the box. Faulknor put it away to give UCLA a 3-0 win over the Lions.
San Diego State Aztecs
The Aztecs are just 2-5 on the season. They’ve lost two of their last three games and five of their last six games. The only win in those games came against UC Davis, 1-0. SDSU’s only other win of the season came in the season opener against New Mexico which was also a 1-0 win.
Outlook
This game doesn’t look to be a difficult one for the Bruins. With Fleming and Mace back in the lineup, the UCLA offense is back to full strength. When you also factor in that senior Julia Hernandez has scored four of her seven career goals against San Diego State, it makes sense that this game probably won’t be a close one. I think the Bruins will win this one easily, 4-0.
This is your UCLA women’s soccer vs. San Diego State open thread.
Go Bruins!!!
