This afternoon, there’s another Bruin soccer doubleheader at Wallis Annenberg Stadium. First up at 1 pm, the UCLA women’s soccer team will host the Utah Utes. Then, at 4 pm, the men’s soccer team will host UC Berkeley.
Last Time Out
On Thursday, the Bruins hosted Colorado and UCLA shut out the Buffs, 3-0.
Lucy Parker scored the Bruins’ first goal in the 25th minute. That goal proved to be the game-winner for UCLA. It was Parker’s first goal of her UCLA career.
Mia Fishel added an insurance goal in the 53rd minute while Ashley Sanchez’s fifth goal of the season gave the Bruins a 3-0 win.
Meanwhile, Lauren Brzykcy earned a clean sheet in net for UCLA. It was Brzykcy’s first clean sheet of the season.
Utah Utes
Today, the Bruins host the Utes, who are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Southern Cal on Thursday. The Utes started Pac-12 play with a pair of ties against Arizona State and Oregon State before beating Oregon at home last Sunday.
While Utah seems to get goals when they matter, they don’t exactly have a very prolific attack. The Utes are led by Holly Daugira who has scored three goals this season. Utah has three players who have scored twice each and five more players who have scored once. In total, Utah has scored 14 goals this season in 13 games.
By comparison, the Bruins have scored 23 times in 12 games.
So, with today’s game at home, look for a Bruin win. I’m predicting a 2-0 final.
This is your UCLA vs. Utah women’s soccer open thread.
Go Bruins!!!
