The UCLA Women's Volleyball team swept Lipscomb last night in three sets to advance to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

It didn't take long for the Bruins to take control of the first set. UCLA scored the first two points of the match, but Lipscomb came back to tie the score at 3-3. Jessyka Ngauamo made it 4-3 Bruins and, after that, it was all UCLA in the first set.

With the score 6-4 UCLA and Ngauamo serving, UCLA scored seven straight points to take a commanding 13-4 lead. That run included three kills and a block from Reilly Buechler.

With the score 22-10, the Bruins closed out the set with a kill by Jennie Frager, an ace serve by Taylor Formico, and a Jessyka Ngauamo kill finished the first set.

The second set was tougher for UCLA. Lipscomb scored first and kept it close throughout the set, while leading by as many as four at 13-9.

With the score 14-11 Lipscomb, the Bruins scored four straight points to take a 15-14 lead. Lipscomb tied it again at 15, but then UCLA went on another run to make the score 21-17. Lipscomb tried to mount a comeback, scoring 4 of the next 5 points to close the score to 22-21 UCLA, but the Bruins were able to hold them off and win the set 25-22.

Lipscomb scored the first two points of the third set, but the Bruins scored the next three to take a 3-2 lead. After the Bisons tied it at 3, a kill by Jessyka Ngauamo gave UCLA a 4-3 lead and the Bruins didn't look back, eventually expanding their lead to 10 as they closed out the match with a 25-15 score in the third set.

Overall, UCLA made only six attack errors throughout the match while Lipscomb made twenty-one. As a result, UCLA's hitting efficiency was .494 as Reilly Buechler led the Bruins with a .650 HE and Jessyka Ngauamo had a .561 HE.

Ngauamo and Buechler led all players with 14 kills each while freshman Zana Muno added 30 assists.

Earlier in the night, Michigan defeated Santa Clara 3 sets to 1 to advance to the Second Round and, as a result, UCLA will face the Wolverines tonight at 7pm in the John Wooden Center.

Go Bruins!!!
