The UCLA Women’s Volleyball team is in Eugene tonight for a Wednesday night conference match against the Oregon Ducks.
The Ducks have won 12 of their last 13 matches. The only loss in that stretch was last Friday against #8 Washington. They bounced back by sweeping #10 Washington State on Sunday.
Oregon is led by sophomore Lindsey Vander Weide who is averaging 3.14 kills per set. Vander Weide isn’t just a one-dimensional player. She leads the team with 18 aces and is second with 3.35 digs per set.
Freshman Jolie Rasmussen is second behind Vander Weide with 2.69 kills per set and senior Amanda Benson leads the team in digs per set with an average of 5.02. Junior Maggie Scott and sophomore August Raskie have been sharing the setting duties.
After getting off to a torrid start, the Bruins have cooled in Pac-12 play. They are currently 3-3 in the conference which has left them in seventh place in the conference so far while the Ducks are tied for the conference lead with Washington State.
A sweep of the Oregon schools tonight and Friday would go a long way towards helping the Bruins move back toward the top of the conference standings. And, to do that, they need to play well tonight.
