UCLA Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Illinois State, Faces #21 LMU

This morning, UCLA won its second match in less than 24 hours when they swept the Illinois State Redbirds. Tonight, they face the #21 LMU Lions.

This morning, UCLA took on Illinois State in the second match of the women’s volleyball season and in UCLA’s second match in the LMU Invitational.

UCLA (2-0) swept the Redbirds, 25-9, 25-19, 25-17.

Jennie Frager led the Bruins with 14 kills and a .737 hitting percentage, both of which were career-highs for Frager. Taylor Formico, Zana Muno, and Savvy Simo all recorded 12 digs in the match. Overall, the Bruins hit .360 for the match.

UCLA never trailed in the first set. Frager and Reilly Buechler scored the first two points at UCLA didn’t let Illinois State even tie them.

In the second set, Illinois State had their biggest lead of the match at 10-8 but then the Bruins went on a 8-2 run to make it 16-12 Bruins. Once again, the Bruins finished off their opponent by not trailing for the remainder of the set.

In the third set, UCLA had an 8-6 lead when they went on an 8-2 run to take a 16-8 lead and, again, the Bruins finished off the set and another opponent.

In the nightcap of today’s doubleheader, the Bruins will take on the #21 Loyola Marymount Lions at 7pm. Here’s the match info:
