It’s a pre-Thanksgiving matinee today as the UCLA Women’s Volleyball plays its penultimate game of the regular season against the Oregon State Beavers.
On Sunday, the Bruins swept UC Berkeley in three sets, 25-23, 25-23, 25-15.
UCLA started off the match by taking the first three points, but then the Golden Bears went on a 10-0 run. The Bruins cut Berkeley’s lead to 10-7 with a 4-0 mini-run. The team battled back and forth over the next 34 points and the Bears had a 22-18 lead. But UCLA finished strong with a 7-1 run to close out the set.
In the second set, the battle continue as the Bruins and Bears fought hard over the first 42 points to a 21-21 tie. Again, UCLA grabbed control to close out the set by winning 4 of the final 6 points to take the set, 25-23.
The Bruins resumed their onslaught in the third by scoring the first 7 points. UCLA won 11 of the next 16 points to take an 18-5 lead. The teams alternated the next 10 points and UCLA led 23-10. Following a 5-0 Bear run, UCLA closed out the set and the match by scoring the final two points they need to go home with the win.
