Last night, the Bruins defeated the Marquette Golden Eagles in 4 sets in their second match at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. Meanwhile, host Hawai’i lost their second straight as they lost to San Diego in 3 sets.
Tonight, the Bruins look for the sweep when they take on Hawai’i.
Against San Diego, Reily Buechler led the team in kills while Mac May led the team last night, but the unsung Bruin from the first two matches has been senior transfer Sarah Sponcil who has record 78 assists in just two matches. That’s more than 11 assists per set in the seven sets the Bruins have played.
Look for the Rainbow Wahine to try to salvage a win tonight against the Bruins. They are led by senior middle hitter Emily Maglio who leads Hawai’i in kills and sophomore setter Norene Iosia who leads the team in assists.
Based on the first two matches each team has played, this match should be over after three sets, but I’m going to predict that it goes four.
Go Bruins!!!
