Tonight, the UCLA women’s volleyball team travels to Eugene, Oregon for a match against the Oregon Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena at 6 pm PT. Tonight’s game will air on Pac-12 Network Los Angeles.
Last Time Out
On Sunday, the Bruins swept the Colorado Buffaloes, 25-15, 25-23, 25-18.
Mac May had 18 kills in the match while Cali Thompson had 24 assists and 11 digs.
In the first set, UCLA jumped out to a 5-3 lead, but a 3-0 Colorado run gave the Buffs a 6-5 lead, which would be their last of the set. The Bruins responded with a 3-0 run of their own to take an 8-6 lead and they didn’t look back as they went on to win the set, 25-15.
While the Bruins jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the second set, Colorado used a 3-0 run to take a 5-4 lead. UCLA responded by going on a 9-1 run, making it 13-6. While UCLA never relinquished the lead for the rest of the set and won the second set, 25-23.
The third set started off as a battle. Despite that, Colorado never led after they began with a 4-3 lead. The Bruins took the lead with a 4-1 run that made it 7-5. Eventually, UCLA led by as many as four points at 12-8 and again at 16-12. But Colorado clawed back and close the UCLA lead to just a point at 18-17. A 6-0 Bruin run gave UCLA their first match point. A service error by Mac May delayed the sweep, but Tristan Savage killed the next volley and the Bruins won this set, 25-18, sweeping the Buffs.
Oregon Ducks
The 5-10 Ducks just aren’t a very good volleyball team. They are just 1-5 in Pac-12 play, but they did beat a tough Utah team at home, 3-2. That doesn’t change the fact that the Ducks have lost four straight.
Tonight, I have little doubt that it will become 1-5. In fact, I’m predicting a 3-0 Bruin sweep.
This is your UCLA versus Oregon women’s volleyball open thread.
Go Bruins!!
