#3 UCLA Women’s Water Polo Crushes #16 UCSD Tritons, 19-3, UC Irvine Up Next

The Bruins moved into the Winner’s Bracket of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational with yesterday’s win.

Rachel Fattal had a hat trick against UCSD

The UCLA Women’s Water Polo team had the most lopsided victory on the first day of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational as they defeated UCSD 19-3.

Lizette Rozeboom scored 4 goals and Rachel Fattal had 3. Fattal scored her first goal of the game just 13 seconds after the opening sprint. Bronte Halligan scored UCLA’s second goal 27 seconds later and she would score another later in the game. Alys Williams scored the first of her two goals to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead before the Tritons scored their first goal of the game.

The Bruins quickly responded with a Maddie Musselman goal that would prove to be the game-winner. Kodi Hill, Aubrie Monahan, Devin Grab, Sarah Sheldon, Grace Reego, Kelsey Blacker, Jenna Hurst all had one goal each.

This morning, UCLA opens play with a rematch of last weekend’s game against host UC Irvine at 11:45 am. The Bruins will then play either Southern Cal or Hawai’i this afternoon, depending on whether UCLA wins and on who wins the game between the Trojans and Hawai’i.
