No. 11 UCLA (15-3, 3-0) got its conference season off to a fantastic start when the Bruins swept Washington last weekend. While many of us, who follow this program from around the country didn't get to watch the games live at JRS, we certainly got a sense of the suspense of drama around the fog delayed epic contest last Saturday, which propelled the Bruins to a sweep of the Huskies.
The challenge becomes a little stiffer this weekend as Cal Bears come into town. The Bears are 13-8 but 3-0 in the conference, and will certainly be fired up. It will be up to Adam Plutko and co. to keep the Bruins streaking at JRS. Plutko carries a 2-0, 2.73 ERA into the game as he will be going up against freshman RHP Ryan Mason who has a record of 3-0 with an ERA of 2.93. That worries me a little given our offense has had issues at times this season. We will see.
If you're not out at the ballpark this evening listen in to John Ramey and Tim Welhelm or follow along with GameTracker. You can also get all of your game updates and observations, as well as all news, notes and links on Ryan's UCLA baseball Twitter. This is your open thread so chime in with updates and observations as the Bruins begin their run for another conference title.
GO BRUINS.
