UCLA at Arizona St. Thursday Baseball Open Thread: Opening Up the Pac-12 Slate

UCLA plays their first conference road game tonight in Tempe.

Matt Ryerson-US PRESSWIRE

The offense is still a question mark and the Bruins are still trying to sort out some other things, yet here they are, tied for the Pac-12 lead at 5-1 after two weekends. Not bad for a work in progress.

This weekend will be UCLA's biggest Pac-12 test to date as they head to Tempe for three games against Arizona St. After a strong non-conference run, the Sun Devils have struggled in conference, losing series to Washington St. and Oregon St., but they still have talent, especially in ace Trevor Williams.

Williams is 3-2 with a 2.36 ERA this season and will be a first round pick in June's draft so the Bruins have their work cut out for them tonight. UCLA will need a strong effort from Adam Plutko, who hasn't been at his best this season, going just 2-1 with a 3.47 ERA.

If you're not in Tempe, listen in to John Ramey and Tim Welhelm or follow along withGameTracker. This is your open thread so chime in with updates and observations as the Bruins hit the road in conference play for the first time this season.
