Tuesday night's 11-1 beat down at the hands of Long Beach St. killed any momentum UCLA may have had after last weekend's series win at Oregon, but the Bruins are still just 2.5 games back of first place in the Pac-12. With the Ducks taking on Stanford this weekend, UCLA has a chance to make up ground against struggling Washington St., too. Simply put, the Bruins need to leave this weekend closer to first place than they started it.
Adam Plutko, who has been nothing short of brilliant of late, will get the start for the Bruins. He is 5-2 with a 2.34 ERA and has never pitched better than he has in the past month so UCLA has to feel good about sending him out to the bump. Washington St. will counter with Joe Pistorese, a good southpaw who has a 2.23 ERA, but hasn't gotten a ton of run support and is just 4-3.
Tonight's contest gets underway at 6 pm PT and you can follow along on GameTracker. John Ramey isn't up in Pullman and Washington St. charges for their online radio call so we're stuck just the live stats, although if you can get a link to Pullman's 1150 AM or 105.3 AM, you can listen in there. This is your open thread so check in, provide updates and chime in all night.
