UCLA To Host Cal Poly, San Diego and San Diego St. In Los Angeles Regional

The Bruins will welcome three California teams to Westwood for the Los Angeles Regional.

Yesterday, UCLA was announced as a Regional host and today they found out that Cal Poly, San Diego and San Diego St. would be the three teams to join them in the Los Angeles Regional. The Regional will get underway on Friday and continue through the weekend at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Bruins will face the Aztecs in their first game, which is a generous match-up for UCLA. San Diego St. is hot after winning the Mountain West Tournament, but they were just 31-29 this season and 15-15 in a middling conference.

Cal Poly is the No. 2 seed in the Regional after going 39-17 on the season and 17-10 in the Big West. They will play San Diego in the first game of the Regional, which means they will have to face the Toreros' Kris Bryant, who hit a mind-boggling 31 home runs this season and is far and away the best hitter in the country.

The winner of the Los Angeles Regional will play the winner of the Fullerton Regional, setting up a potential UCLA vs. Fullerton Super Regional. The Titans, as the No. 5 national seed, would host that Super.

UCLA will open their postseason on Friday evening and in an ideal world, would win, play Saturday night, win again and then clinch the Regional on Sunday night. Ticket information for the Regional is available on the official site.
