UCLA's hopes for a third straight Pac-12 title are fading, sitting 3.5 games out of first place with four weeks left in the season, but there is still a chance. So if the Bruins are going to make a late run at the conference, they will have to make up ground and in a hurry, beginning this weekend when they take on last place Utah. Simply put, if the Bruins want to win the conference, they need a sweep this weekend.
Adam Plutko will be on the mound for the Bruins tonight. After a month of superb pitching, the junior had a rough outing last week so he'll try to get back in a groove and improve his 5-2 record and 2.69 ERA tonight. Mitch Watrous will start for the Utes and he brings a 3-2 record and 2.81 ERA into the contest so UCLA offense will be tested.
If you're not out at the ballpark this evening, listen in to John Ramey and Tim Welhelm or follow along with GameTracker. This is your open thread so chime in with updates and observations as the Bruins try to get things off to a good start against the Utes.
