UCLA vs. Mississippi St., College World Series Finals Game 1: For The National Title

64 games have led to this: The College World Series Finals and three games for a national title.

USA TODAY Sports

UCLA stands just two wins away from their first national championship in baseball. Gone is Cal St. Fullerton, LSU, NC State and North Carolina, all of whom have fallen victim to the Bruins. Now only Mississippi St. is left. A good, well-rounded and red-hot Mississippi St.

Adam Plutko will go to the mound for UCLA tonight in Game 1 of the Finals. The right-hander is 9-3 with a 2.29 ERA on the season and carries a career 6-0 record and 0.87 ERA in the postseason. He'll be opposed by Trevor Fitts, who is 0-0 with a 2.86 ERA this season, but don't expect him to last more than three of four innings, if that. His only job is to get the Bulldogs through the early going and turn the ball over to the bullpen.

Hunter Renfroe leads a good Mississippi St. offense that is especially good one-through-three. Plutko and the Bruin bullpen is going to be tested by them and they have to mitigate the damage that the Bulldogs do at the top of the lineup if they want to grab Game 1 of the series.

Tonight's game is live on ESPN and gets underway at 5 p.m. PT. Tune in and share all of your thoughts here as the Bruins go in search of #109.
