UCLA vs. Michigan Sunday Baseball Thread: Bruins Looking To Sweep

UCLA is trying to make it a perfect USA Baseball-Irish Classic.

USA TODAY Sports

Five hits. That's all UCLA has managed through two games at the USA Baseball-Irish Classic.

Two wins. UCLA is off to a perfect start despite their offensive struggles.

The heroics of James Kaprielian and Grant Watson, each of whom threw eight shutout innings in their starts, have fired the Bruins to consecutive wins in North Carolina. First, they beat Notre Dame and then yesterday, they topped No. 6 NC State. Now, they go for the tournament sweep.

The Bruins will send Cody Poteet to the hill hoping that he can follow in the footsteps of Kaprielian and Watson. The sophomore has struggled this season, going 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA and failing to go deep into either start, but has some room for error against a struggling Michigan team today. The Wolverines will counter with Evan Hill, also a sophomore, who has a 4.76 ERA on the year.

Luckily for us, John Ramey made the trip back east so you can listen along with him. You can also follow along on my UCLA baseball Twitter and on Gamecast. This is your open thread so fill it with updates, thoughts and whatever else you have as UCLA tries to win their third straight.
