It's sort of sad that it's come down to this for our seniors, but for Kevin Williams, Brian Carroll, Pat Gallagher, and Aaron Weimer, they will always get to tell folks they played on UCLA's first ever national championship winning squad. So, sure their collegiate careers won't end on the high-note everyone was hoping for, but in looking back at their time in Westwood (two Pac-12 conference titles, one NCAA national title), they can leave UCLA with their heads held pretty high. So, thanks for everything Kevin, Brian, Pat, and Aaron and best of luck after you head out of Westwood.
Now, for the the game itself, the Bruins have nothing left to play for in this lost season, with a win today being one only for pride and for the guys who will never get to play at Jackie Robinson Stadium again. On the hill for UCLA today is regular Sunday starter, right-handed sophomore Cody Poteet (3-4, 3.95 ERA) who will look to pick up a win against Oregon's right-handed senior Brando Tessar (4-1, 2.81 ERA).
In case you missed it, islandbruin2 did his usual excellent series preview, which you can check out here, or if that's not enough, you can also check out the official website's preview of the game here. First pitch today is set for noon PST at Jackie Robinson Stadium. And if you can't make it out to the Jack on this gorgeous Sunday afternoon in Southern California, you're crazy, but you can listen in live to the audio broadcast, being called by John Ramey and Tim Wilhelm. Or you can track the game live on the official website's Gametracker.
This is your Sunday afternoon, playing-only-for-pride-and-the-seniors game thread, so fire away in the comment thread with your comments, takes,or what you're hearing or seeing as you watch, listen in, or track the game.
