UCLA Baseball concludes an eight-game homestand tonight at 6 pm when they play the first half of a home-and-home series against Cal State Fullerton at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The Bruin bats have finally gotten working over the last four games as UCLA has scored 46 runs in those games including 20 runs in Sunday’s shutout of UC Berkeley.
In Sunday’s game, UCLA scored a run in every at bat except the 7th inning. Sean Bouchard led the Bruin Bashers with a double, a homer, five RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Every Bruin had a hit on Sunday except Jake Pries, Nick Valaika and Michael Toglia. While Toglia walked 3 times, Pries did reach base on an error in the bottom of the eighth. Valaika actually left the game after getting hit by a pitch in the bottom of the second and didn’t have an official at-bat.
Jon Olsen picked up his first win of the season in seven innings of work while Ryan Garcia and Nick Gadsby each worked a scoreless inning to combine with Olsen for the shutout.
Tonight, Justin Hooper (0-0, 4.50) takes the mound for the Bruins looking to extend the team’s streak of 15 consecutive scoreless innings. He will face junior righty Joe Wills who will be on the hill for the Titans.
