UCLA Baseball Wins Regular Season Finale, 10-1

The Bruins now wait for Monday’s NCAA Selection Show.

Jon Olsen improved to 6-0 in conference play with 8 strong innings against the Ducks.

The UCLA Baseball team clinched sole possession of third place in the Pac-12 with a 10-1 win over the Oregon Ducks. The victory also got the Bruins their 30th win of the season which should be enough for the team to make the NCAA Tournament which will be announced tomorrow at 9am PT on ESPN.

UCLA didn’t wait long to get on the board. In the top of first, Michael Toglia doubled down the line to score Brett Stephens while Sean Bouchard advanced to third. Bouchard then scored what would prove to be the winning run when Chase Strumpf grounded out to second and UCLA led 2-0 before Oregon came to bat.

The Bruins added two insurance runs in the second when Ryan Kriedler and Daniel Rosica scored on a Bouchard single and it was 4-0, UCLA. They added three more in the fourth, another in the sixth and one more in the seventh.

Oregon finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh, but Bruin starter Jon Olsen (7-1) held them to just the one run on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over eight innings to earn the win in the longest outing of his collegiate career.

Nick Scheidler and Scott Burke combined for a scoreless ninth to seal the victory.

Cole Stringer (4-3) took the loss for Oregon.

Go Bruins!
