UCLA Basketball: Alford Finally Comments on the 3 Bruins in the Draft

Steve Alford finally spoke to the media in a snooze-worthy teleconference the day after the draft -- long after the program was attacked by everyone including the Minnesota coach that drafted Zach LaVine.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Coach Alford finally spoke to the media about our three Bruins selected drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft.  We were wondering about the radio silence.

You can go back to whatever you were doing now.  How many times can the reporters on the teleconference ask about Kyle Anderson's fit with the Spurs?  We covered that in real time here and here.

If you have a BRO subscription, you can listen to the whole teleconference here.  It has a drowsy, monotone quality to it that makes you  think that it was scripted by the Morgan Center, and Alford read from a teleprompter.  As a matter of fact, here's the AD's transcript.

The OC Register had this story afterwards.  Still no push back even though Flip Saunders flamed Alford's coaching and nepostism as reported by Bellerphon here

What has happened to the mainstream media coverage of UCLA?  Anyone with an Ipad and the LA Times app can tell you that UCLA is the last button in the sports category, and difficult to access.  When you do finally get to the UCLA menu, the top story is a two week old story about the O'Bannon trial.  And what about the tough questions about nepostism and point guard recruiting?  Forget it.

Oh, and by the way, Florida, the team that beat us in the Sweet 16 and coached by Billy Donovan, had nobody drafted.
