Tony Parker Leads UCLA to Sweet Sixteen As Bruins Beat UAB 92-75

The Bruins go inside and Tony Parker responded like a beast.

The Bruins started off the game with a Tony Parker free throw. Little did anyone know at the time that it was the beginning of a great game for him.

After watching Bryce Alford shoot out the lights from behind the three-point line against SMU, UAB looked to shut UCLA down from outside and the Bruins took advantage of that by going inside to Parker throughout the game.

The Blazers kept the game close for the first twelve and a half minutes when Bryce Alford broke a 23-23 tie to give the Bruins the lead.

After that the game was never in doubt as UCLA never relinquished the lead. UCLA took a 46-37 lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, the Bruins just took control of the game and never let off the gas pedal. The closest UAB was able to get was when Tyler Madison hit a three-pointer to make it 64-58 Bruins.

This was one of the best, if not the best, game the team has played all season. They never gave up a big run in the game.

The story of the game, though, is Tony Parker. He put up a career-high 28 points to lead all scorers and also managed 12 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. He dominated inside all game long and the Blazers just couldn't stop him.

Robert Brown led the Blazers with 25 points in a losing effort.

While Bryce Alford still shot 60% from three-point range, he was held to only 5 attempts. Despite that he still managed to score 22 points while making 7 of 8 from the charity stripe.

The Bruins certainly seem to gelling as a team right now as they have now shown that they can beat you from inside as well as from downtown. If they can continue adapting to what opposing defenses throw at them and keep teams in check defensively like they did today against UAB, UCLA could be poised to go deeper in this tournament than anyone thought they could.

Go Bruins!!!
