Well, the Pac-12 Conference portion of the schedule kicked off last night and the results were certainly disappointing, to say the least.
Since conference play has started, we thought now we be a good time to share our predictions as to how things will play out throughout the conference schedule and offer our prognostications for what the Pac-12 standings will look like when the season is over.
But, before we get to the actual predictions, let me take a moment to discuss our methodology.
Frankly, it was quite simple. Each member of the Bruins Nation team predicted what place each team would finish in. Then, much like the Top 25 polls, points were assigned based on that rank. For instance, a 1st place vote was worth 12 points (since there are 12 conference teams). A second place vote was worth 11 points and so on all the way down to a 12th place vote which was worth just one point.
The points were tallied up and the team with the most points is our consensus pick to win the conference.
Not surprisingly, we have picked the Bruins to win the conference. Last night’s hiccup not withstanding, this team just has too much talent not to win the regular season title.
BN’s 2017 Consensus Pac-12 Standings Prediction
Predicted Rank | Team | Points |
---|---|---|
Predicted Rank | Team | Points |
1 | UCLA (7) | 95 |
2 | Oregon | 85 |
3 | Arizona (1) | 83 |
4 | Southern Cal | 72 |
5 | UC Berkeley | 61 |
6 | Colorado | 60 |
7 | Utah | 47 |
8 | Stanford | 37 |
9 | Washington | 33 |
10 | ASU | 25 |
11 | OSU | 18 |
12 | WSU | 8 |
Of course, part of the fun of making predictions like these is seeing who the better prognosticator is. For that reason, here is what each member of the Bruins Nation team predicted.

So, now, we’ll see who’s the best basketball prognosticator among the BN team, but one thing that’s clear is that we all expect UCLA to perform well in conference play.
Go Bruins!
