Bruins at the Beach Event Today at Venice Beach

With no UCLA Football game today, it’s a good day to turn our attention to UCLA Basketball.

Today, UCLA and Under Armour will hold an all-day event at the Venice Beach Basketball Courts.

The event starts at 10am with Yoga on the Hardwood. This will be an actual yoga class ed by UCLA alumna and former women's basketball player Lindsey Pluimer. Members of the UCLA Gymnastics team and UCLA Gymnastics alumna Samantha Peszek will also be participating.

Then, from Noon to 3:45 pm, the Battle of the Boardwalk 3-on-3 basketball tournament will take place. The tournament will feature alumni teams from both the men’s and women’s basketball programs in addition to various local Los Angeles influencers.

Then, from 4 pm to 6 pm, Bruin fans will have their first chance to see this year’s men’s and women’s basketball teams as the teams will provide fans with a showcase. I’d expect this to be a basketball version of what we’ve seen in the UCLA Football Spring Showcase over the years. According to the official event preview, it will also be the first opportunity for fans to see the new blue Under Armour uniforms for both teams.

General admission seating is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The men’s basketball team opens its season this year in Shanghai, China against Georgia Tech on November 10 while the women’s team opens its season at home against San Jose State.
