How to Watch and Preview: Detroit Mercy at UCLA

UCLA plays a No D Detroit Mercy Team

UCLA plays Detroit Mercy Titans tonight. Detroit is better than some of the teams UCLA played this year(South Carolina State is one of the worst in the county) at least on offense. On defense, they are truly awful, they are ranked 335 overall (out of 351) by KenPom. They really don’t bother with defense. In some ways this is the opposite of the Cal State Bakersfield, who were a good defense team but bad on offense. (Except Bakersfield was better.)

Detroit Mercy has two good players that could give UCLA some problems on defense. The first is 6’9” Kameron Chatman. He is the kind of inside-out big (48% from three) that gives UCLA teams fits. The other, 6’3” Corey Allen, is the kind of guard that has lit UCLA up this year up from three. He is shooting 46% three and scoring over 17 points a game. Can Aaron Holiday be a stopper again tonight? Can one of the fours step up on Chatman? If so this will be an easy win and shoot it will likely be an easy win anyway but It would fun to build on the defensive success of last game.
