What’s Bruin: Bryce Alford and Isaac Hamilton Join NBA Summer League Teams

Plus, some fall sports schedules are announced and men’s volleyball recruiting news.

UCLA Men’s Basketball

Because the NBA Draft is just only two rounds, the road to the NBA must go through the NBA Summer League for a lot of players. Bryce Alford and Isaac Hamilton are two guys who will hope to catch a team’s attention by playing in the Summer League. Alford will play for the Warriors’ Summer League team with former UCLA teammate and NBA Champion Kevon Looney while Hamilton will play for the Pacers’ Summer League team where he will probably join TJ Leaf and Ike Onigbogu.

Meanwhile, the incoming freshmen have arrived on campus.

UCLA Women’s Basketball

The UCLA Women’s Basketball non-conference schedule has been announced. The team opens up at home against San Jose State on November 10th. After hosting Presbyterian College on November 12th, UCLA will welcome two of the top teams in women’s college basketball to Pauley Pavilion when Baylor visits on November 18th and UConn visits on November 21st. That’s about as a tough schedule as a schedule can get. The only way to make it tougher would be throw in defending champs South Carolina.

UCLA Women’s Soccer

The 2017 UCLA Women’s Soccer schedule has been released. The team opens the season at home on August 18th against San Diego State.

UCLA Men’s Water Polo

The 2017 UCLA Men’s Water Polo schedule has also been released. The team opens up 2017 with the UCLA Invitational at the Spieker Aquatic Center on September 2nd.

UCLA Women’s Water Polo

Thirteen, yes thirteen members of the UCLA Women’s Water Polo team received All-Academic honors last week from the Association of College Water Polo Coaches. To qualify, each member needed to have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20.

Haley Evans received an Outstanding award for a cumulative GPA between 3.71 and 4.00. Bronte Halligan, Devin Grab, Donya Dehnad, Grace Reego, Hannah Storum, and Louise Hazell all received Superior awards for GPAs between 3.41 and 3.70 while Allison Wieseler, Kelsey O'Brien, Kodi Hill, Lizette Rozeboom, Maddie Musselman, and Nicole Reynolds all earned Excellent honors for GPAs between 3.20 and 3.40.

UCLA Men’s Volleyball

Volleyball Magazine has ranked the incoming UCLA Men’s Volleyball recruiting class as the best in the nation. The 2017 class includes five high school All-Americans. Hopefully, this means next year’s team will improve over this year’s disappointing results.

Go Bruins!!!
